How It's Made

Epofurniture

Step 1: Layout & Design

The foundation of a masterpiece lies in the layout. Our craftsmen arrange premium, kiln-dried wood slabs to match your exact dimensions. We thoughtfully position each piece to highlight its natural curves, live edges, and unique grain patterns, ensuring the final composition is visually stunning.

Step 2: Precision Cutting & Edge Cleaning

Once the layout is finalized, the boards are trimmed to size. We meticulously remove any softwood, loose bark, or decayed sections—keeping only the firm, healthy heartwood. For the intricate live edges, we use a specialized drill-attached nylon brush to clean hard-to-reach spots, perfectly preserving the wood’s organic texture.

Step 3: Edge Sealing & Mold Construction

To prevent air bubbles from escaping the wood during the main pour, we seal the raw edges with 1–2 coats of epoxy resin and let it semi-cure. Meanwhile, we construct a watertight custom mold using smooth MDF panels. All joints are sealed with quick-drying adhesive, and a specialized release agent is applied to ensure a clean demolding process.

Step 4: Resin Mixing & Vacuum Degassing

Working with high-grade epoxy is a delicate science. We gently warm the resin to ensure perfect fluidity and mix it thoroughly. To guarantee a crystal-clear, glass-like finish, the mixture is placed in a vacuum chamber for 30 to 60 minutes. This crucial step extracts even the most microscopic air bubbles before pouring.

Step 5: Layered Pouring & Texture Refinement

The resin is poured slowly in multiple layers to minimize air entrapment. After each pour, surface bubbles are eliminated with a heat gun. For complex swirl designs, our artisans refine the textures by hand using specialized tools when the resin reaches the perfect viscosity.

Step 6: Extended Curing & Demolding

Patience is key. Each resin layer must cure for 48 hours. The final, thicker top layer requires over 72 hours of curing to achieve a rock-solid, bubble-free surface. Once fully cured, the mold is carefully dismantled, and the tabletop is gently released using wooden wedges to prevent any damage.

Step 7: Progressive Sanding

The rigorous process of revealing the table's true beauty begins here. We use professional sanders to smooth the entire surface, moving meticulously through a strict sequence of grits (100, 120, 150, 180, 240, and 320). We never skip a grit, ensuring an impossibly smooth and even foundation.

Step 8: Polishing & Protective Finishing

Using a low-speed electric polisher fitted with a soft foam pad, we perform staged polishing for up to an hour. This brings out the deep clarity of the resin. Finally, we apply 5–6 coats of premium protective finish, buffing between each coat. The ultimate sealing topcoat is applied in a dust-free environment for a flawless result.

Step 9: Quality Control & Custom Crating

Before leaving our workshop, your table undergoes a rigorous inspection under specialized lighting to verify surface clarity and structural integrity. For shipping, we utilize a heavy-duty 5-layer packaging system: high-density foam, protective fabric, heavy cardboard, rigid edge protectors, and a custom-built wooden crate. This guarantees your masterpiece arrives safely, no matter the distance.
